How Kinereel makes a video from a topic
Kinereel turns a topic into a finished vertical video in eight steps. You approve each one, and each shows its price in credits before it runs.
A 45-second video costs about 12 credits from idea to MP4. The free plan includes 15 credits a week.
Free plan, no card. You see each step's price before it runs.
The eight steps
- 01
Type a topic
Write the subject in a sentence, or paste a link. Pick 30, 45 or 60 seconds and a look. A topic can be as plain as "why copper hit a record".
- 02
Pick a hook
Kinereel writes three openings for your topic. You choose the one your audience would stop scrolling for. Cost: 1 credit.
- 03
Shape the script
The script appears one line per beat. Edit any word for free. A meter compares your spoken length to the target. Cost: 1 credit.
- 04
Hear the voice
Preview ten voices for free, then record the script with the one you pick. The voice reads exactly what is on screen. Cost: 1 credit.
- 05
Approve the storyboard
Kinereel draws one still per scene, 14 frames for a 45-second video. Redo any frame you do not like. Cost: 4 credits.
- 06
Watch the agents animate it
One agent per scene writes the animation, checks its own frames and places the sound effects. A live board shows each scene. Cost: 4 credits.
- 07
Change it by asking
Type "make scene three slower" or "use a darker look". Only the part you named is redone. Cost: 1 credit per edit.
- 08
Export the MP4
Render a vertical 9:16 MP4 and post it anywhere. 720p on Free, 1080p on Creator, 4K on Pro and Studio. Cost: 1 credit.
What each step costs
Prices come from real compute and model use, so they stay small and predictable. Here is a 45-second video:
| 3 hooks | 1 |
| Script | 1 |
| Voice-over | 1 |
| Storyboard, 14 frames | 4 |
| Animation, 8 scene agents | 4 |
| MP4 render | 1 |
| Total | 12 |
The pricing page lists each plan's weekly and 5-hour budget.
What runs on our servers
The writing and the checking use AI models. The voice is synthesized, the scenes are drawn in a headless browser, and the MP4 is encoded with ffmpeg. All of it runs on our side, so your browser stays light and a closed tab does not stop a job.
The scene engine produces real motion graphics: type, shapes, charts and transitions drawn frame by frame. It does not use stock footage or an avatar. If you upload your own clips, images or logos, they appear as you supplied them.
Questions
How long does it take to make a video with Kinereel?
The server steps run in the background, so you can close the tab and return. Most of your time goes to the choices you make: picking a hook, editing the script and approving the storyboard. You can close the tab while a step runs and come back from any device.
Do I need editing or design skills?
No. You type a topic and approve proposals. There is no timeline to drag. To change something, you describe it in the chat and Kinereel redoes that part.
Does Kinereel add background music?
No. Kinereel uses sound design only: effects placed on each cut and fitted to the voice. It does not add music beds, which also keeps your video clear of music licensing questions.
What stops me from wasting credits?
Nothing runs until you approve it, and every step shows its price first. Edits to the script cost nothing. If a step fails, its credits come back automatically.
What do the agents do?
Each scene gets its own AI agent. It writes the animation code for that scene, renders frames, checks them against the storyboard and fixes problems before you see the result. Scenes are built in parallel, which keeps the wait short.
